You may wish to enroll your child in the State Schools, where they will adopt a Spanish lifestyle more readily or pay for a Private (International) Schooling, which due to State funding costs less than the UK. The latter being more beneficial for UK exam taking Teenagers.

TIP: If you are unhappy with the nearest School -Enroll in your favorite

• Academic Year runs September until June
  

• Pre School is available for 3 - 5 year olds
  

• Primary School from 6 - 12 and Secondary from 12 - 16.
  

• The standards of education are arguably equally if not better than those of the UK
  

• The Spanish children accept and quickly make friends with the English counterparts
  

• The Schools are run in line with the Spanish lifestyle...Laid back and fuss free
  

• Many lessons in Summer are taken outdoors
  

• School uniforms are normally not needed ..making this cost minimal
  

• Children are expected to buy their own books .....approx. £100 per year for juniors/seniors
  

• Schools operate Monday - Friday 5 day weeks
  

• Many Schools open Infants/Juniors 9am - 2pm (half hour lunch break take a packed lunch)
  

• Secondary Schools open 8-30 am - 2pm (2 or 3 days a week) and until 3pm the remainder
  

• Religion is Catholic but most schools offer you a choice of education with or without it
  

• Most schools offer a free School bus service to those who need it & after school activities
  

• In addition to all the festive holidays most children get up to 11 weeks holiday in summer
  

• Usually it is the school nearest your home that is dedicate your children's school, as in the UK
  

• If your child can't speak Spanish. It is common to put them down a year in order to catch up

• Copies of Residency or Town Halls register letter of living in area
  

• You may need a certificate of child's blood group (can usually be done in local pharmacy)
  

• Make appointment to see School Head Teacher (Director) .Ask foreigners dept to help
  

• Fill in the school application form
  

• Can usually start next day
